Our Testing Methodology: How We Review AI & Productivity Tools
At Perfect Picks Deals, trust is our most valuable asset. We know that choosing the right software or AI tool can significantly affect your productivity and budget, so here is how we review tools and what you can expect from each article.
Here is how we approach every review:
1. Selection & Acquisition
We choose tools based on reader demand, market trends and genuine innovation. We do not accept special review versions or altered software from developers.
2. Hands-On Tests and Research-Based Reviews
Hands-on tests: when we can use a tool’s free plan or trial ourselves, we run the same task on each tool and publish our screenshots and results, as in our ChatGPT vs Claude writing test.
Research-based reviews: for tools we have not tested ourselves, we compare official documentation and pricing pages with independent reports, and we say so clearly at the top of the article.
3. What We Check in Every Review
Whether we test a tool ourselves or review it from research, we look at the same practical questions:
- For AI writing tools: we give each tool the same prompt and compare word count, instruction-following and quality, and we always flag that facts need human checking.
- For productivity apps: we check features, limits and pricing against the official pages, and test on a free plan or trial when we can.
4. Our Verdicts and Editorial Independence
Each review ends with a plain-language verdict that explains who the tool suits and who should skip it, based on features, ease of use, pricing value and limitations. We do not use numeric scores. Brands cannot pay to change our conclusions or review content.
